Trapped on the Couch

*whine*

I've been trapped inside, with the couch mostly serving as my small little home now for three weeks. I think I'm going to go crazy. My only venture outside was today, to the doctor's office.

Why? My knee is hosed. Why? I don't know!!! I twisted it a little funky while sitting in an odd position on the floor, but not badly, not like anything out of the ordinary. It was a bit stiff that night, then the next morning I woke up and it was about the size of a canteloupe. I iced it, elevated it, took naproxen, it slowly got better. Living in the sky and facing a million stairs, I wasn't sure how the hell I'd get to a doc anyway (and no, trust me, no one can carry me, lol). So I stayed off of it (not like I can be on it, anyway). I did all the things you're supposed to do for home care. Nichts. Nothing. Until this weekend when it got even freakin' worse...

So, taking a horridly painful eternity to get down the stairs with Bunny's assistance and having to call a taxi to go just a mile from home, I saw a sports medicine doc. After confirming that I simply cannot have an MRI done (for reasons I prefer not to go into here, but they're non-negotiable), I'm basically screwed. I got a cortisone shot and some better pain killers, but without an MRI there's no way to really confirm what's going on in there. So, if it's not better in a week or so, the only choice for any hope of being able to get around again is...surgery (which may or may not make anything better) and carries greater risks than for a normal person due to my health. Yippee.

My main doctors told me a couple of months ago flat out that if I don't want to keel over dead before I'm 40 I simply must "Walk, walk, walk!" (Swimming is out because of pool chemicals, as is biking because of previous knee probs. About all that's left these days is good old walking.)

Now this sh*t!!!!! *whine*

Now there's nothing but sit, sit, sit. And it's crucial that I not sit, sit, sit. But I've been told to sit, sit, sit because now it's crucial for my knee that I sit, sit, sit, but otherwise seriously harming my health and future since I can't walk, walk, walk. AGHGHGHGH!

So I guess it's upper body chair aerobics starting tomorrow. Gee, I can't wait.
