Merry Christmas / Frohe Weihnachten

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I sincerely hope 2010 is better than 2009...Here's some info about Christmas in Germany: Weihnachten (Wikipedia).
All the stores closed down around here by 1pm to 2pm today and won't reopen until next Monday. Yes, if you're outside Germany, you actually heard that right. No cough medicine, mashed potato mix or the onions you forgot to buy today. Not for 3 1/2 days. (Well, if you live in a major city you might find some little things at the main train station, but not much else is open.) We barely made it to Kaufland in time today. Wheh!

And I still can't get into the idea of putting up the Christmas Tree on Christmas Eve. To heck with that. If I'm putting that much effort into something, that baby's gonna be up for at least a week before Christmas, lol. (But we don't have one up this year anyway. Just not enough time or a place to put it amongst the unfinished mess. We've been bad, so I guess Knecht Ruprecht might come by tonight *shudder*...)

P.S. If you want to read some really crazy Scheisse, check out that link on Knecht Ruprecht. I'm glad we didn't have this in the U.S. The scariest thing was Gremlins and A Christmas Carol.
